Greetings, y’all. After a hiatus filled with travel for work and soul-resetting fun, I’m back with my biggest project in a while. I present to you…
The audio version of the play I wrote during the summer of 2020! It’s called Tavern on the Water, and I’m proud of it.
Here’s the synopsis: The storylines of several bar patrons intertwine in one turbulent night in Maine’s most charming seaside tavern. There are travelers, business magnates, pirates, sea creatures, lies, love, and lobster. Join seven characters (played by only two cast members) as their lives are changed in the blink of a seagull’s eye.
After reading that, I hope you want to read the play. But, I have spent significant time this summer and fall on something far more fun: editing the audio version.
Last winter over the course of two evenings, I sat down with writer/comedian/actor Ariana Newhouse and author/actor/artist Ryan Felton to record their voices. There is nothing cooler than hearing these two read my work.
More on them in part two of this post, but I am forever grateful that they agreed to do this. They are so talented and funny (and extremely hard working).
Anyway, here’s how this will work. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll release all three parts of this audio experience for paid subscribers. As an added bonus, there will be a fourth send with some outtakes, in which Ari and Ryan’s charm are evident. I smiled a lot working on this project.
So for now, paid subscribers can hear the first part of Tavern on the Water by scrolling down. For the love of all things creative, please listen to this 15-minute first part with headphones. I promise you’ll agree that full immersion is the way to go.
Cheers for now… until part two.
